    Where exactly is the hotel located in Newcastle city centre?

    The hotel entrance is on Newgate street in the centre of Newcastle, just a 5-minute walk up Grainger Street from Newcastle central station. 

    How far is the hotel from Newcastle airport?

    The hotel is located 7.7 miles and approx. a 20-minute drive of Newcastle International Airport.

    We recommend taking the Metro which connects the airport with the city centre within 20 minutes. Depart the Metro at either Central or Monument and from here it is a 5-minute walk to the hotel. Exit the station onto Grainger Street and turn right onto Newgate Street, the hotel is directly on your left. Alternativity, you can take a taxi. Journey time and fares depend on traffic.

    Are there any shopping areas nearby?

    Yes, Maldron Hotel Newcastle is perfectly located for a shopping break in Newcastle and close to several great shopping centres. Eldon Square is only a 2-minute walk from the hotel, an indoor shopping centre containing a range of retailers and restaurants. In addition, our hotel is a 5 minutes’ walk from Newcastle’s main shopping street.

    How close are public transport links to the hotel?

    Newcastle central train and metro station is a 4-minute walk from the hotel and there is a bus station directly opposite for links to the wider region.

    Yes, there are several car hire companies within a 5-minute walk of the hotel. Please ask our reception team for directions.

    Is there car parking at the hotel?

    No, Maldron Hotel Newcastle does not have a car park on-site. We do have discounts set up with several local car parks for our guests which are in walking distance to the hotel. Full details can be found on our location page.

    Are you close to St James’s Park?

    The hotel is around a 5-minute walk from St James’s park and is also very close to the gate and into Eldon square for shopping.

    Check-in is from 3pm on the day of arrival. In the case of earlier arrival, we try our best to accommodate our guests where possible.     Maldron Hotel Newcastle operates a strictly non-smoking policy. We do have a designated outdoor smoking area at the front of the hotel to accommodate guests who smoke. A deep cleaning fee will be charged to guests who are found to be in breach of our no smoking policy.

    Maldron Hotel Newcastle boasts 265 comfortable bedrooms. Depending on your needs, you can choose between 4 different room types, including Double Rooms, Double Single Rooms, Executive King Rooms and Double Double Rooms. We also have a number of interconnecting rooms available for families and groups.

    Are there wheelchair accessible rooms available?

    Yes, there are 14 fully accessible bedrooms complete with full wet rooms available at Maldron Hotel Newcastle. Also, all public areas are wheelchair accessible.

    Can I get a cot or camp bed in my room?

    Yes, we have cots available on request, however, no further beds are permitted to rooms.

    Do the rooms have air conditioning?

    Yes, all bedrooms have air conditioning.

    Do the bathrooms have a shower or bath?

    All bedrooms have walk-in rainfall showers. Baths are only available in our Executive Double Double bedrooms.

    Yes, wake-up calls can be arranged with our reception team.

    All our bedrooms are equipped with an iron and ironing board, in-room safe, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer and bathroom toiletries.

    Whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a quick snack on the go, our Grain & Grill bar and restaurant has everything to meet your foodie needs 7 days a week.

    Does the hotel offer breakfast?

    Yes, we are renowned for a great selection of breakfast options available each morning. Choose from traditional grilled breakfast items as well as healthier and nutritious options to kickstart your morning. Breakfast is served 7 days a week from 6:30am to 10am Monday to Friday and from 7:30am to 11am at weekends and bank holidays.

    Maldron Hotel Newcastle offers both room only and bed & breakfast rates. Room only rates do not include breakfast. If breakfast isn’t included in your rate, you can still purchase breakfast on arrival in the restaurant.

    What time is the restaurant open?

    The Grain & Grill restaurant serves food from 11am until 10pm.

    Does the restaurant cater food for allergies?

    Yes, all of our menus have a full allergy listing. Please inform your waiter if you have any allergies, vegetarian or dietary requirements and our kitchen team will be delighted to assist.

    Do you have room service?

    Yes, in-room dining is available 24/7. You can order from our Click & Go menu, available through our Guest Service Platform. The food can be then collected at the collection point in our restaurant at your requested time.

    Is there a reservation for dinner required?

    At Maldron Hotel Newcastle, we accept cash, all major debit and credit cards on arrival. Pre-payment can also be made online either at the time of booking or via our online check-in process.

    What is the hotel’s credit/debit card policy?

    Bookings require a credit card for guarantee only unless otherwise stated. No cash payment is allowed for bookings, we only take payment via credit card with photographic ID. For some special offers and specific dates, full payment is required at time of booking but these terms will be outlined in the special offer terms & conditions. No rooms will be let unless payment is guaranteed.

    What age are children for the purpose of hotel packages?

    Children are designated as between 2 and 12 years of age. Children over 12 will be charged as an adult.

    How do I make a group or multiple rooms booking?

    Groups can be booked directly with the hotel by emailing res.newcastle@maldronhotels.com or calling +44 (0)191 640 9500. Please note that four adults can share a room.

    Are there any age restrictions when booking a hotel room?

    To book a hotel room, you must be at least 18 years old. All under 18s must be accompanied by a guardian or parent.

    Can I show up at the hotel without a booking?

    Yes, we can accept walk-in bookings. However, we would always recommend calling ahead to the hotel or pre-booking online prior to arriving to secure your reservation and to avoid disappointment.

    Can I extend my stay?

    Yes, depending on availability, we’ll be happy to accommodate you for further nights at an additional cost. Please contact our reception team at any stage during your stay and we will happily arrange the rest for you.

    How can I cancel or amend my booking?

    If you have booked directly with the hotel, you can amend or cancel your booking by visiting the ‘Manage Booking’ section on our website by using your confirmation number and email address.     What is the hotel’s cancellation policy?

    If you have booked the reservation directly with the hotel over the phone or online, Maldron Hotel Newcastle offers free cancellation up to 2pm 48 hours prior to the day of arrival unless advance purchase non-refundable rate was selected. Please note that some special offers and key dates outlined in the terms and conditions may specify a special cancellation policy applicable to that offer and date.

    How can I cancel my reservation if I booked via a third-party website?

    If you have booked via a third-party website or online travel agent, you will need to contact them directly to amend or cancel your booking as we cannot do that on your behalf. Please note that third party websites and online travel agents have their own cancellation policies, so please refer to your confirmation email.

    What does our “no show” policy entail?

    If you do not show on the day of your booking or didn’t successfully cancel, you will be charged the full amount for your first night’s stay. If you have booked our “advanced purchase” or “prepay and save” rates, you will incur a 100% penalty charge for the entire duration of your stay.
